Failte Armyn! I wanted to take this opportunity to discuss the final resolution from our vote on the merger discussions. I know there is a little confusion out there, and I apologize for that, but I had to collect input from folks who were not there as well as look over what was said.

Basically, the consensus was that the time is not right for us to perform a merger the w ay it was proposed. There are too many issues that are fraught with pitfalls for the guild to proceed at this time. Many felt that it would cause the "personality" of the guild to change too much if we indiscriminately invited people en-masse, especially if we invited people who really didn't want to be there. The personality of the guild was also discussed with inviting "ready made" officers into positions of leadership and example, when we had no idea if these people would fit those positions.

While we decided not to go ahead with the merger as originally proposed, we do feel that the opportunity of getting new members, especially the folks from Imperial legion that we did meet who were favorable to the merger, is an opportunity not to pass up. Currently, as understood by the officers of Armyn ab Treanid, the leadership of Imperial Legion is frustrated with their small size and inability to do events like many other guilds. Many officers in Armyn ab Treanid also share this frustration. Additionally, members of Imperial Legion are concerned that they are not recruiting as heavily as they could be, and are afraid they may stagnate, or even yet become extinct. Armyn ab Treanid does not share this concern. We are now getting a lot of visibility, and people do indeed seek us out for membership.

The consensus from the vote was as follows: We will gladly invite any member of Imperial Legion who wishes to join our family as a regular member of the appropriate rank (by-passing the 2 week Bannoo period). In the course of that person’s membership, if they show themselves to be right for the position, then they may be promoted to the appropriate officer rank. Those members of Imperial Legion who do not wish to join us, will not be forced to in any way, and will still remain friends and brothers (or sisters) in arms. Since these discussions were brought about due to the concerns Imperial Legion did have about their membership numbers, we will of course actively help them find homes with a family they want, hopefully within the alliance.

On a personal note, I just wanted you all to know that even though this wasn’t exactly what I wanted, I did listen to YOU the members and I think we have reached a very amiable consensus. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at brightblades@yahoo.com and we can discuss it further. However, I feel this is what will be best for the guild as a whole, and keep our sense of family alive and well. If it takes me a while to reply to your messages, that is because I am on another TDY.
