So, ye think ye have what it takes to uphold the brave name of Armyn ab Treanid? First ye need to read the Code of Conduct of this Great Guild! If they are agreeable to you, find a member of Armyn ab Treanid as well as post an introduction on this Message Board. To post a message here, you will need to register for this board. Please make sure to use a valid e-mail address.

The 10 Commandments of Joining Armyn ab Treanid

1.) Someone expresses and interest to join.
This is something that can happen in-game or here on the boards. I highly recomend you register on the boards here though and make sure you post your intentions as well as describe yourself and your character. Do as much as you can to make yourself known to the people who are not able to be present in Step 2.

2.) We have a chatgroup interview with the prospective member.
This takes place in-game. This is the most demanding portion on the prospective member. It is something that will TOTALLY fall on you to seek us out and request this. It may take a couple of times, because of the fact that events may be happening and there may not be members of the council available. Remember to be persitent!

3.) Based on the interview, someone in the guild decides if they want to be a sponsor.
Basically, during the interview process, folks will talk about you in guild chat. It is hopefully at this time someone decides to sponsor you. If there are only a few guild members present during the interview, you may have to repeat step 2 a few times though to fins a sponsor.
3a.) That someone starts a thread on the New Member Forum about them.
This is a place for us to leave feedback and have a running record of you. This should guide the council and membership on your fit with the guild. This thread will get moved to the council forums upon initiation, so members should feel free to speak freely here without fear of any reprocussions.

4.) The sponsor is responsible for checking if that person is around and "guiding" them in Armyn events.
Basically the sponsor should do a /who name of the person to see if they are on and invite them to whatever is happening. No one ever said that being a sponsor is an easy job.
4a.) The individual is also responsible for making the effort to get in on events as well.
This is especially important. Your sponsor may not always be available, so check on the Guild Calendar and make sure to do a /who armyn and ask what is going on.

5.) People leave feedback on the thread that was started in 3a.).
This is vitally important. If you have been in a group with a lot of Armyn folks, please make sure to remind them to leave the feedback. As I said, if you do get invited as a member, this thread will be moved to the council forums, so the membership should feel free to be 100% honest.

6.) This continues for at least a month.
In order for the guild to get a measure of you as a prospective member, there needs to be ample time to get to know you and meet you. This is where your persistence and determination comes in. We want you joining the guild to be a big deal anyways.

7.) The sponsor declares that they feel the person is ready for membership afterthe time from step 6.).
The sponsor has clear duties that are spelled out on a special borad that you can't see. At such time as the feedbacks have been collected, and folks have had an opportunity to meet you, they will call for a vote by the council.

8.) Council votes on the individual.
The council needs a 2/3 majority to make the vote official. Of course, we'd prefer a unanimous vote. A "no opinion" or abstention count as a No vote by the way, so you really need to make sure to get the attention of the officers.

9.) Assuming a successful YES vote, the person is Bannoo (or Muc Fie) for AT LEAST 2 weeks, and most likely longer.
Again, this is a sort of an internal trial period. However, since the sponsorship period is so long, we hope this is just a small step in the process. This section of the Code of Conduct should explain the ranks and structure better than I can here. Armyn ab Treanid still wishes to keep our standards high, that is why we are extending the Bannoo period to be as long as we deem necessary in order to evaluate the Bannoo. During this time, it also falls on the new Bannoo to evaluate if Armyn ab Treanid is also for them. As with any guild, it is a two way street. We still expect the highest standards of our members. Adhere to the Code of Conduct, be true and kind, and activelly hunt out the enemies of the land, and I am sure you'll fit in fine!

10.) All Bannoo and Muc Fie must bring a tribute of Wine to Larian.
Hey, I gotta get something out of this after all! drinks_wine.gif

Some other things to keep in mind: Due to the nature of the guild and the mechanics of DAoC, we feel that it is important that all new prospective members be Level 25+ in order to join. This is mostly to prevent a feeling of being left out of guild activities and events, since a vast majority of the guild is already level 50. Also, this should be an indicator of a persons true desires to defend the land, be dedicated to the guild, and show a desire to work for a goal.

Remember that it will fall mostly on you to seek us out. While we try not to discriminate against anyone of any level wanting to join, please realize that you need to be level 25+ to formally start the application process. If you are persistent and make yourself known to us in other good ways, then the process should be smooth. Again, I must stress, it falls on you to seek us out. In particular, you really must seek out members of the council to get to know them. The council is the final determination on who gets to join our family. The council consists of anyone with a Guild Rank of 0, 1, or 2. Look on the Herald and seek us out!

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." ~ Calvin Coolidge
