How do I get a house...?

You've been working hard and saving up your coin and you want to buy your first house.... how do you go about it?

First you must find a house lot that is available, if you look you can find one for 300g, if you find one that is higher, stay near it... house lots go down in price by 1.2 platinum per hour, for a minimum price of 300g. You can find available lots by wandering around housing and left clicking on stones in the middle of empty lots to see how much a lot costs. Once you find a lot you are happy with you will need to pick up the stone that is on the lot that you want, you can target it and use your 'get nearest object' key or double left-click on it to pick it up. A pop-up will appear and ask you if you really want to purchase the lot, if you do, click yes.

Now that you have a lot, you have 7 days to put a house on it and pay rent, yes, you need to pay to live somewhere here too.

Buying the actual house is easy, first, go to the Meath market. To get to Meath market, speak to the Merchant in the Meath entrance or any other market and ask for a Market Return Token, then hand that token to the Consignment Merchant (CM) and you will be transported to the Meath market (CM's are located on the sides of houses, going north from the Meath entrance will take you to houses that have CM's already). Once you find your way to a market seek out the merchant in the center near the fountain, Caelum, he will sell deeds and porches. You will then need to ask him for a deed to the house that you want, be careful, the size of the house you buy determines the rent you pay each week. (see bottom of page for house breakdown)

Once you buy your house deed return to the lot you just purchased. To turn your rock into a house, left-click on your deed in your inventory and drag it to the rock, then left-click on the rock to drop it. You now have a house, congratulations!

Now, before you do anything else, you need to pay rent. There are a few ways to pay your rent, you can pay with coin, with bounty points if you have more than you know what to do with.

To pay with coin all you need to do is left-click on the money icon in your inventory an a pop-up will appear, use the arrows in the pop-up to select the amount of money you wish to pay rent with (you can speed this up by pressing shift + left-click to go up by increment of 10) then click accept, a coin icon will appear attached to your mouse. Now, drag the coin option to any wall of your house, inside or out, and left-click on the wall, a pop-up will appear asking you if you are sure you want to put money there, click accept.

To pay with bounty points you have two options:

You can purchase Rent Tokens in the housing markets with bounty points in the amounts of 10g, 20g, 50g, 100g, 1 bp = 1 gold. You cannot put a rent token in your lockbox that is more than your rent amount (if you have a Cottage and are trying to pay 1 week of rent, you cannot use a 50g rent token, you can exchange larger tokens for smaller token amounts at the same merchant that sells them in the market). Rent tokens work the same as coin, simply left-click on the token in your inventory and drag it to any wall of your house and drop it in. Rent tokens are good when you want to stock up on tokens so you don't have to run back and forth to the merchant each month...

Or....

You can pay rent directly with Bounty Points each month or week. To pay directly with bounty points type /bountyrent personal <amount you want to pay in gold>. For example, if you want to pay 100g in bounty points on a 200g per week house, you would type /bountyrent personal 100. If you own a guild house or have permissions to pay with bounty points on a guild house, you can type /bountyrent guild <amount in gold>.

If you are not in game for a while and you have a CM with sufficient money on it, your rent will be taken from your CM until your CM runs out of money. If your rent comes due and you don't have any money on your CM or in your lockbox, your house will be repossessed, the only things you will be able to retrieve from your house are items that were in your vaults or on your CM (click here if your house was repossessed).
